Been A While

So it's been a while since I updated the blog, but (from what I've gathered, and been there for) here is what Bandit has been up to for the past few weeks.

Bandit played ball with my dad in the back yard. I'm not exactly sure where I gave him the idea that you must always bring the ball back to the exit of the establishment in which you are playing, but I am trying to correct this giving him giant treats when he (on a fluke) brings the ball back to the person throwing it, and ignoring him for a couple of minutes when he drops the ball off at the gate. But at least he's fetching! And he's really good about it.

Bandit loves his squeaky toys. The love affair started with a blue squeaky alien, progressed to a lion, and now he has a monkey. From now on I am only going to buy him exotic animals because I want to bring him up as a well rounded, cultured dog.

Bandit and my dad watched some TV, and then he fell asleep in his bed. Napping inside, this is very good, it shows that he is getting over his absolute ecstasy over being inside.

And my mom has reported that he is doing much better on staying calm and not running all around after immediately entering the house. She says she can see a look in his eye like he is trying to restrain himself, and some times he is able to. The keeping Bandit calm inside has, from my knowledge, taken care of the peeing problem.

As for the Adventures of Bandit and Kirsi, we went to a BBQ together last weekend, with Bandit's good friends Toki and Jamal. Bandit was very well-behaved, sat quietly at my feet for the most part, and then I took him off on the leash and we ran around with the other dogs, but I think he would have liked it more if he didn't have to wear the leash and could just run free like them. It means we need to start working on "come" and not bolting off the leash. I think the Dog Park in Iowa City will be a great place to start working on that.

And the weekend before our BBQ Bandit and I had a lovely evening, a meal of pork (on his part) followed by an Iowa City day trip. Bandit made friends with a really pretty blond girl in the Ped Mall (he is such a ladies man) and then we met with Bandit's friend Ben for lunch at Quintons. Bandit drank all the water from my glass in less then ten seconds. Then we all went back to Fairfield and cooked, and played with Bandit's monkey, and went on a walk. Bandit is such a cuddler!
